About
A magazine of the Broadway season
A Gentleman’s Guide is an independent Broadway magazine. We cover the season, the houses, the people, and one show in particular we keep coming back to.
We publish news, reviews, casting notices, stage transfers, and the occasional long view of how Broadway came to look the way it does. The voice is contemporary and unsentimental, with a soft spot for craft.
Why the name
The magazine takes its name from the 2014 Tony-winning musical A Gentleman’s Guide to Love & Murder — a show built on a long-forgotten 1907 novel that proved a small team could still beat a starry production to the top of the season. We like that lineage. There’s a dedicated page about the show for readers who want to know more.
